The St. George's Chamber Orchestra

A few comments from our audience:

'A most enjoyable evening - an excellent programme with a first class chamber orchestra; what more could you ask for?'

'Fantastic concert last night, I can't think of a better way to open the St George's Arts Festival! We enjoyed it immensely. It was a real treat - such a well chosen programme and perfectly played by all.'

'Wonderful concert tonight! Beautiful uplifting music.'

'You certainly made at least this one pensioner greatly cheered and uplifted. I look forward to the continuing success of the orchestra, trusting that it will be possible for a great more local people to come to realise what a treasury they have at their disposal on their Beckenham doorstep.'

The St. George’s Chamber Orchestra (SGCO) was founded in 2004 as the new professional orchestra for the South East, established in order to give local music lovers the opportunity to hear orchestral concerts of the highest standard on their doorstep. All the SGCO’s members play regularly with the famous London orchestras such as the London Symphony, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras.

The SGCO's members live in the local area and understand the need to bring high quality musical experiences to those who usually have little access to classical music. Many players in the St. George’s Chamber Orchestra teach, and for more information about this, or to join our mailing list, please email: sgcomail@gmail.com

The St. George’s Chamber Orchestra is thrilled to be able to base itself at the Parish Church of St. George, Beckenham. The church already has a proud musical heritage, and boasts one of the finest church choirs in the UK. The church itself, with its spaciousness and good acoustics, is an ideal venue for a chamber orchestra. The SGCO would like to express its thanks for all the help it has received from everyone at the church.
